No, you do not have to be of Irish descent or Catholic faith to join the St. Patrick Society of Peoria.
To become a member it is expected that you support the Society’s purpose: “to perpetuate the heritage and history of the Irish people and to promote their ideals, traditions, and culture.”

The St. Patrick Society of Peoria sponsors the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17th of each year – rain, snow, or shine. Sometimes all three.
The Parade usually begins at 11:00 AM on March 17th. When the 17th falls on a Sunday, the Parade will begin at 2:00 PM.

Peoria Irish Fest / Erin Feis, the 3-Day Irish Festival, is sponsored by the St. Patrick Society in partnership with the Peoria Park District on the fourth full week-end of August. The festival takes place on the Peoria RiverFront and begins on Friday Evening and continues through Sunday Evening.

Membership is not required to volunteer or participate, but many of the more desirable positions fill up quickly, and current society members will be given first choice!
