If you are interested in joining the St. Patrick’s Day Parade volunteer crew, you’ve come to the right place!
On Monday, March 9th, the Parade Committee hosts a training event at our facility. This will give you a chance to meet and interact with our staff and fellow volunteers, enjoy some refreshments, and learn a little bit about what you’ll be doing on parade day.
An email will be sent to all registered volunteers with information about the training event.
On parade day, Block Captains arrive in the staging area at 9:30 AM, helping participants to their assigned staging area location and answering any questions the participants might have. Each captain will be assigned to a particular block or intersection of the staging area to patrol.
Once the parade begins, Captains will escort the parade through the parade route (approximately one mile) acting as both an “extra set of eyes” for the drivers, as well as making sure spectators (particularly the smaller ones) don’t run in front of a vehicle to grab candy. Once all the vehicles have passed the end point (usually around 12:30 or so), we’ll collect your fashionable safety vest and clipboard, and you’re free to enjoy the rest of the holiday knowing that you were a part of that day’s biggest St Patrick’s Day Parade in the state!
