Non Profit Organization

The St. Patrick Society of Peoria is recognized as a nonprofit corporation in the State of Illinois and as a 501(c)(3) organization by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).  The organization is often referred to as the Society.  The purpose of the Society shall be “to perpetuate the heritage of the Irish people and to promote their ideals, traditions, and culture.”

No substantial part of the St. Patrick Society of Peoria’s activities shall consist of the carrying on of propaganda or otherwise attempting to influence legislation nor shall its funds be used for any such purpose.  The Society shall not participate in or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.

The Society shall not carry on any activities not permitted by (a) an organization exempt from Federal income tax under the Internal Revenue Code and corresponding provisions thereof or (b) an organization, contributions to which are deductible under provisions of the Internal Revenue Code.

The St. Patrick Society of Peoria is governed by a Board whose members are elected at the Annual Meeting of the Society.  The officers—President, Vice President, Secretary, & Treasurer—are elected from the Board Members at the first Board Meeting following the Annual Meeting.
